The Communications Team creates graphics publicizing Board of Education affairs and opportunities for students on Lynne Harris’ social media platforms. The Comms Team also takes notes at Board Meetings to cultivate accessible recap posts for the public with relevant current information.

The DEI committee works on solutions and initiatives related to diversity & equity, with a current focus on the results from the Anti-Racist Audit in order to advocate for equitable access to resources and more countywide.

The committee looks at state and county graduation requirements and tries to find unnecessary requirements and figure out which ones need to be added. This ranges from course and test requirements to how credits are counted for classes taken.

Working to further LGBTQ+ inclusivity within MCPS. This could include advocating to implement gender inclusive restrooms at every school, providing better protections against hate crimes in schools, and supporting and uplifting LGBTQ+ identifying students in any way possible.

This committee takes initiative to discuss issues in our community relating to renaming schools. We look at how we can improve our school system to reflect the values of our community.

The Sustainability Committee is responsible for developing sustainability initiatives and pushing for environmental policy pertinent to the Sustainability Policy passed by the Montgomery County Board of Education.
